Listen to Audio

In addition to working with the Professional Development Pages in the Teacher's Edition, here are some other activities you can try. Keep a journal or diary of your work in the classroom and outside. By recording and reflecting on your experiences, you can keep a record of your development as a teacher.

Have someone videotape you teaching your class, and then watch the tape to get a different perspective on how you teach. If you feel comfortable with the idea, watch the tape with a colleague and discuss what you see. Ask other teachers to let you visit their classes and watch them teaching. Seeing another teacher's different approach to working with the same material can spark many new ideas.

Consider inviting another teacher to come to your class and watch you teaching. Ask the other teacher what he or she noticed in your class, and discuss the observations together.

And of course, attending conferences and reading new books and journals in the field can give you fresh ideas and renew your perspectives on teaching.
