Writing is a complex skill to teach, and World Link provides a step-by-step progression of tasks that helps students to build writing skills. Lesson B of every unit of World Link contains a writing activity that incorporates the theme, vocabulary, and structures of the unit. For each activity, students have a model for their own writing. A variety of different types of writing are included.

In the writing activities, students write a group of sentences about a topic that personalizes the theme of the unit, relating it to their own life and experiences. They then share their work with a another student, and give reactions to what they read. This gives a communicative dimension and a purpose to their writing.
