Lesson A of every World
Link unit contains two related sections pertaining to spoken communication.
In Speaking, students work with a model conversation incorporating vocabulary
and structures from the unit in a natural conversation. Speaking Strategy
presents the language which students need to carry out functions in social interaction,
and gives them opportunities to practice it in pair work, group work, and role
plays.
Included in Speaking Strategy is a group of Useful
Expressions for that situation. Some of these expressions are presented
before all of their grammar has been introduced. This is done where the meaning
of the expression is clear from its context and use. This approach allows students
to communicate effectively before mastering higher-level grammatical features.
