Many other specific ideas for fluency practice are presented
in the lesson notes in the Teacher's Edition. Here are some general ideas that
can be used with a variety of units.
Many students enjoy carrying out a class survey. Divide
the class into groups and have them prepare several survey questions related
to the theme of the unit. Have each student collect answers from several people,
either in class or outside. Back in their groups, have students compile the
answers. Have each group prepare a short oral report on their findings. If you
like, have them draw a chart or graph on the board, or on a piece of paper.
Have groups take turns presenting their information to the class.
