Most of these fluency activities are done as pair or group work. Here are some steps to make these activities successful.

For pairwork, consider how you will match students with a partner. It's preferable not to have students work with the same partner every day.

For groupwork, decide whether you want to assign students to groups randomly or by ability, interests, etc. In group work, you can assign roles to each student, such as secretary, timekeeper, etc.

After you present the activity to the class, model it if necessary. Write useful language on the board. As students work, walk around helping as necessary, and noting any problems.

If desired, have students switch partners and repeat the activity. When all (or most) students have finished, invite them to present their ideas to the class.

After the activity, comment on successes and any problems or common errors that you noted.
