Ms Perry uses questioning and direct instruction to present the Reading Strategy. Then students are asked to practice the strategy, first in a teacher-guided whole-class process of question and answer procedure and then in pairs. Note the clear modeling of the pair activity Reciprocal Teaching.

 

Reciprocal Teaching encourages student involvement in the reading and guides the application of the newly learned reading strategy. Students benefit from opportunities to formulate questions themselves.
