In this module, Innovations author, Andrew
Walkley discusses different approaches to teaching reading activities and
using texts in class. He explains how Innovations introduces the reading
activities and then consolidates the language and structures learnt after the
reading has finished.
Andrew focuses on how Innovations supports
students as they read and after they have read the text. He explains how the
teacher can focus on the language presented (looking closely at practical everyday
usage), generate discussion about specific issues in the text and encourage
students to interpret and recreate what they have read.
